China Southern Airlines celebrates first anniversary of the Cairns-Guangzhou route
On December 4th, 2017, China Southern Airlines officially launched the “Cairns -Guangzhou” route. The route has now been operating for one year.
To recognise and show appreciation of the support from the community and our customers, China Southern Airlines held an Appreciation Dinner on November 30th, 2018, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the ‘Cairns-Guangzhou’ route at the Riley Hotel in Cairns.
Over 110 guests including Counsellor of Consulate-General of People’s Republic of China in Brisbane, Mr. Cheng Yangchun; Mayor of Cairns, Mr. Bob Manning; CEO of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Ms. Pip Close; CEO of Cairns Airport, Mr. Norris Carter; International Director, Greater China of Tourism and Events Queensland, Mr. Charley Shen; representative of Tourism Australia and other VIP guests attended the dinner.
During the event, Mr. Zhang Yubin, General Manager of China Southern Airlines Australia and New Zealand, reviewed the achievements of the Cairns-Guangzhou route over the past year and expressed his gratitude on behalf of China Southern Airlines.
Mr. Zhang Yubin said that the Cairns route is the second direct connection between China Southern Airlines and Queensland Australia and provides more flexible choices for passengers from China and Australia.
Since the launch of the route, the number of passengers that have travelled with the airline has exceeded 32,000. The new route has promoted the development of tourism, economy, trade and cultural exchanges between China and Australia, but also further improved and optimized China Southern’s network in Australia and New Zealand. China Southern is the largest air carrier in the aviation market between China and Australia.
After the launch of the Cairns-Guangzhou route, China Southern has expanded its coverage to six major cities in five states of Australia, completing the strategic layout in the Australian market.
China Southern Airlines has 8 navigation points in the Australia-New Zealand area, including two cities (Auckland & Christchurch) in New Zealand. China Southern currently operates 10 direct flight routes and 180 weekly flights between the two countries in both directions during peak season, remaining to be the No.1 carrier in the aviation market between China and Australia.
Mr. Zhang Yubin said: “China Southern wouldn’t be here without the support from our industry partners and the community. In 2019, we will contribute as we always do and we hope to keep working together with everyone in this community to create for a brighter future.”
